Bring me to a
piano, lend me a guitar
I dare not say I
can play that far
But give me
time, I'll learn as I go
I'll play something,
something only I know.
I play it time
and time again; it became yours too.
It's no Beethoven.
I should've
said, don't play it for the world
For they hear
noise and clashing cymbals.
It became music
to me because it was music to you.
I play with my
eyes closed, no instrument need be present
Take the guitar
away, bring me back where I've started
The world is
silent, but you still hear my melody –
The notes you've
learned to speak
The rhythm
you've grown to love –
It’s music that
belongs only in my heart.
